Mindfulness: a supercharged awareness fully directed to the present moment in a non-reactive and non-judgemental way. It orients our mind to what is important to us in this moment of our life.

Dr Tamara Russell is a neuroscientist, psychologist, martial artist and mindfulness teacher. She believes that it is possible for everyone to find a way to weave mindfulness into their daily lives.

Dr Russell is passionate about the brain and this evening she will share the exciting neuroscientific research that is helping us to understand why mindfulness really can ‘work’, along with its future possibilities and applications.

We will look into the brain to learn about the processes that are engaged when practising mindfulness, what the brain is doing, how the brain pays attention and consider 'where am I when my mind wanders'?

We all need clear and calm thinking to meet the challenges our world is facing. Mindfulness is one route to ensuring that we proceed with this consideration and clarity rather than with knee-jerk reactions. In a mindful world there is room for us all to thrive.
