The Lucky Things Meet Ups are about getting us all together and enjoying some time out with a friendly crowd.  Due the success of Dr. Tamara Russell’s talk on mindfulness at the January Lucky Things Meet Up, we’re bringing her back for an informal workshop on looking after yourself.

Where? The Folly, 41 Gracechurch St, London EC3V 0BT. Nearest tube Monument or Bank. London Bridge, Liverpool Street and Cannon Street are a short walk away.

Who’s talking? Dr. Tamara Russell is a leading mindfulness expert. As a psychologist, neuroscientist and marshal arts teacher she advises individuals and organisations on using mindfulness techniques to optimise performance, encourage innovative thinking and improve mental and physical well-being.

Tamara has delivered mindfulness talks at Google, Lloyds TSB, Tate Modern, National Portrait Gallery along with other corporate organisations. She has collaborated with the Dalai Lama on a panel talk on well-being in Brazil. Tamara has also delivered talks at Wonder: Art and Science on the Brain alongside Ruby Wax at the Barbican Centre.

Tamara has introduced a groundbreaking approach to mindfulness that is practised through everyday movement. Her simple exercises are designed to be accessible to everyone, including those who can’t find time for practice, who are constantly on the move or who have struggled with traditional “sitting still” mindfulness techniques.

She published Mindfulness in Motion: Healthier Life Through Body-Centred Meditation (Watkins) in 2015.  She is the Director of the Mindfulness Centre of Excellence, London.

Why hear a talk on looking after yourself? Regardless of the pace of our everyday life, it is helpful to pause and get ourselves ready for the next thing or task on the to-do list. This talk will focus on practical mindfulness tricks to help you focus, recharge and just get stuff done. Tamara will also share helpful insights from her book #WhatisMindfulness (Watson, 2017). The talk will last about an hour and there will also be a Q&A session.

Who’s coming? The Lucky Things Meet Ups are for women only (sorry no kids or babies). Whether you’re working for a company, running your own business, juggling different projects or leading your household, there will be practical tips shared during the talk. Only 50 spaces are available.

What to expect from the afternoon? The Lucky Things Meet Ups provide women with a great opportunity to invest in your confidence and your own personal development.  Take away practical advice from experts during an interactive workshop (as well as the Lucky Things tote bag full of treats). There’s also lots of catching up time  so you benefit from informal networking in a friendly setting. The talk is held in a private room.

What else you need to know? Lucky Things Meet Ups are ticketed events. Many events are sell-outs.  Want to see what we got up to at the April Lucky Things Meet Up? Pop over to this link. You can also check out our hashtag #luckythingsmeetup on Instagram.
